Reinke Duhme first completed a traineeship with a private bank before studying law at the Universities of Hamburg and Geneva and obtaining a Master’s degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. His clerkship was comprised chiefly positions with the Peruvian-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce and in the Legal Division of a shipping line under the tutelage of the lawyer Mr Makowski.
After his admission to the bar in 1982, Reinke Duhme gathered experience in wholesale and foreign trade and in charter business as in-house lawyer for an oil trading and shipping company. His sound command of the English language and basic knowledge of French and Spanish were helpful in this international setting. As of 1984, Mr Duhme looked after business clients in the fields of wholesale and foreign trade, transport and personal insurance law at Cyrus Makowski, initially in Hamburg and later in Berlin. In Berlin he developed and established the departments of personal insurance, property insurance and liability insurance for a leading insurance law firm. Extensive experience in conducting medical liability cases together with further training as a specialist solicitor for medical law extended his advisory expertise for doctors in other professional issues, especially as regards the law governing remuneration. As a cooperation partner of Cyrus Makowski, he has also contributed Berlin-based expertise in private construction law and the law relating to inheritance.
