(Partner); admitted, 1996, Germany.

Dr. Hilmar Riepe is at home in the field of procedural law. He represents and regularly advises a series of companies in the automotive and elevator/escalator industry, industrial plant and steel construction, weighing system construction and trade, as well as special civil engineering, and he advises real estate management on tenancy and residential property law, as well as property developers. He also works in the field of competition law.

Dr. Riepe is the contact partner for debt collection and receivables management throughout Germany and together with the trained specialist staff in our law firm he ensures effective and legitimate collection of claims. Instructing Dr. Hilmar Riepe means that your claim collection is managed by a single source, starting with the reminder, followed by assertion of the claim before a court of law and subsequent enforcement. You have only one contact and do not need to explain the background and circumstances several times over. This saves time and results in immediate, sound review of the legal enforceability of your claim. You no longer have to chase up receivables that are evidently unfounded, but instead swiftly receive a realistic appraisal. Dr. Hilmar Riepe shows you individually what procedure is likely to be most effective in your case and provides you with a frank and honest assessment of the litigation risk in the event of disputed claims. It does not always make sense to try and collect receivables, especially not if this operation will simply generate further costs that cannot be collected. However, experience also shows that many claims can be realised with a certain amount of patience. Legal fees must be reimbursed by debtors as soon as they enter into default, which is regularly the case at the latest after the first reminder.

Dr. Hilmar Riepe has extensive practical experience in the field of cease-and-desist letters, especially regarding defence against alleged violations of the Car Energy Consumption Labelling Regulation (Pkw-EnVKV), infringements in the fields of measurement and calibration law and of the duties of elevator system operators, as well as concerning non-compliance with the specifications of the act governing the Sale, Return and Environmentally Sound Disposal of Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ElektroG) and the law governing the Protection of Minors (JuSchG).

He also has a wealth of experience in performing in-house legal training and possesses pronounced didactic skills. The spectrum is rounded off by valuable practicable experience in the law governing associations.

Dr. Hilmar Riepe studied Law at the University of Hamburg, with a focus on International Private Law, and earned his doctorate in the field of Constitutional Law. Among his publications are “Soziale Grundrechte in den Verfassungen der Länder Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Sachsen, Sachsen-Anhalt und Thüringen, Ein Beitrag zur Verfassungsentstehung in den neuen Bundesländern” (“Basic Social Rights in the constitutions of the German Federal States of Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. A contribution to the development of the constitution in the states of former East Germany”), in the series Hamburger Studien zum Kulturverfassungs- und Verwaltungsrecht published by Ulrich Karpen, and “Rechtliche Aspekte in der Wundbehandlung, Medizinische Notwendigkeit und juristische Ansprüche bei der Wundversorgung, speziell des Débridements” (“Legal considerations in wound treatment, medical necessity and legal claims in wound care, especially of debridement”), published in Wundmanagement 5/2008.
