The law firm CYRUS MAKOWSKI was established in 1971 by the lawyers Dr. Bernd Makowski and Dr. Klaus Uphoff. From 1969 to 1999 Dr. Bernd Makowski served as principal legal officer of the shipping group "Hamburg Süd" belonging to the Oetker Group. In 1989 the law firm joined forces with the lawyers Dr. Joachim Cyrus und Götz F. Kahle to form a joint partnership "Cyrus Makowski & Partner".

Core expertise and clientele

CYRUS MAKOWSKI deals with practically all questions of business law and corporate legal advisory services. Each lawyer in the CYRUS MAKOWSKI team works in the core area of commercial law and is additionally responsible for certain specialist fields.

The clientele of the law firm include notable companies in the shipping and ship financing sector, the building construction industry, the automotive industry and the insurance industry, as well as banks and enterprises in the mineral oil industry and trade.

Spectrum of services

The main field of activity of the partnership is the provision of full legal services to a series of large and medium-sized companies, in particular to companies which do not maintain their own legal department and attach value to individual, personal service.

Seven lawyers and around seven specialist law office staff are currently working at the Hamburg based law firm.

CYRUS MAKOWSKI is a founding member of an association of European law firms of a similar size and structure set up in 1989.

Via this association, which operates in the legal form of a "European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG)" under the name CYRUS ROSS (E.E.I.G.) CYRUS MAKOWSKI can offer principals highly qualified legal advisory services and legal representation by reliable and competent lawyers in other European countries too.
